Starbucks thoughts.....
On our way to Starbucks, Mark asked Briggor if he knew any names of the drinks at Starbucks? Briggor responded, "Crappichino!" LOL

The Second Week of School......
Well, it's the second week of school and we have had 2 emails from Briggor's teacher already. This year in 4th grade they are using computers at their desks to do school work. I'm sitting on the fence about this, neither for or against it. There is arguments for both sides. But that is another blog post.
The teacher emailed us to tell us that Briggor keeps on talking during class. That was a no brainer for us! He is always talking about something at home. When asked about this, Briggor responded that it was the girls he sits next to in class. They always are talking. LOL I explained this to his teacher and she said she will address this problem.
The next problem was that Briggor always wants to leave class to go to the bathroom. Very disruptive and she is trying to explain that recess and lunch are the times to go to the bathroom. When asked about this problem, Briggor says, it is due to the water bottle that he takes to school everyday. Problem solved....no water bottle to school. Drink out of the drinking fountain son!!
But, here is the kicker! Briggor has learned to use a computer at home and with that knowledge has lead to trouble at school. He is far more advanced than most of his kids in his class. So, on the first day of his troubles, Briggor figured out that he could communicate with the other kids in the class through the computer programs and was sending them messages during class. LOL (too funny! but not appropriate!) That prompted an email sent home to us by the teacher. She in turn took his computer away at school and we punished him from the computer at home. The following day, after we had talked to him, his teacher talked to him, he was given his computer back at school. We received a second email that stated that Briggor was not listening to instructions regarding his assignment on the computer. Briggor was taking pictures of himself with his OWN computer!!! LOL I was laughing so hard when I read this email. It's funny beyond belief. I had to keep a straight face and lecture him on WHY he is not suppose to be doing that while the teacher is teaching all the children!!! I kept it together but when he left the room, I looked at Mark and died laughing.
Oh my! Mark and I have our hands full and the year just started.......God help us!

Betty is off to school.

Today is the start of another school year at our house. I woke up early because I promised the kids pancakes for breakfast. A crap load of pancakes! Eat up children, it's going to be a long day!
Mark and I have been talking about this year for a long time. Our family has hit a milestone this year. We will have a child in every grade of high school. Tasha is a Senior. Megan is a Junior. Skyler is a Sophmore and Jade is a Freshman. They all attend Independence High School. I wonder how many families can say that?
Briggor will be in 4th grade this year. Where has the time gone?
Vegas Getaway Day 3
Mark shot this little beauty, an AR-15. Now he wants one! Geez!
Then Andrew had to join in on the fun with a military stance.
We all headed back to the hotel for a nap before we headed out for the night. We were invited over to Chuck and Ronda's for a BBQ.
During the day, Mark got a surprise text from another friend of ours, Damon Zavala. We both have known Damon since Kindergarten. So we are talking, 40 years now. Wow! Time sure flies. He called to let us know he was at the Hard Rock Hotel for one night only and would love to see us. We headed over there after the BBQ.
I didn't know until we met this evening that Damon placed a crucial supporting role in my illness and hospital stay. He was an encourager, supporter, doctor and friend when Mark needed someone the most. It was great seeing him and recalling stories. We all helped fill in gaps of my adventure which made things a bit more clearer and more real. We sat around at the bar talking til 1am.
We realized on the way back to the hotel that we missed our kids so we agreed to get up early and head home to beat the traffic.
It was a great weekend!

Vegas Getaway Day 2
Mark and I woke up Friday morning and headed out for another adventure. We went out for breakfast at a little place called the The Daily Egg. Breakfast was delicious!
We then went shopping again! I actually got Mark to go into the dressing room and try on shirts!
Our oldest son, Andrew and his girlfriend, Tori arrived late afternoon. We had reservations at the Rio hotel at their restaurant called the Voodoo Steakhouse. You dine on the 50th floor of the hotel.
We went up to the 50th floor on a glass elevator. So cool!
Dinner was amazing! Drinks fantastic! The view spectacular!

Andrew ordered their signature drink called the "Witch Doctor". It was huge and delicious!
After dinner, we split up. Andrew and Tori headed to the strip while Mark and I went back to the Orleans to see Dennis Miller Live.
Mark tried to hail us a taxi with a $100 but they drove right by us. You now have to wait in a line like at Disneyland to get a taxi. So we stood in line to get back to the Orleans.
When the show was over, Mark and I decided to head to the gift shop for supplies and then upstairs to our room to wait for the kids to return. As we were walking into the gift shop, I spotted Dennis Miller checking out at the register. I turned around and told Mark. Mark just stood in the doorway so Dennis Miller had to shake his hand. He walked right up to Mark and they shook hands and exchanged hellos. Highlight of Marks trip!!
Andrew and Tori met up with us and we hailed a cab to go downtown to Fremont Street.
Union Plaza anchors the street on one end. We walked from here to the end.
Great Friday night out!

Vegas Getaway Day 1
The hubs and I headed to Vegas on Thuraday. Adult get away - no kids! We checked in on Thursday afternoon. We went shopping at the Harley Davidson store. Did some damage there!
We then had dinner at Javier's at the Aria per Gerald and Rachel's recommendation. It was fantastic!
After 13 shots of Jack, I got Mark onto the High Roller, the Worlds Largest Roller Coaster. 550ft in the air!
You load into these "pods" that are continually moving at a slow rate of speed. It takes 30-45min to complete the entire loop. They say each "pod" can hold up to 40 people. We had about 12 in our group. My stomach was doing flip flops but we got through it. The view is amazing!
After our "on top of the world" adventure, we hailed a cab and went downtown to the Fremont Experience. The taxi drivers are crazy here! After the roller coaster then the cab ride my stomach needed a break.
The Fremont Experience did a tribute to Bon Jovi. We were dancing and singing in the street!
Mark and I had a fabulous first night in Vegas!!!!

New School Year 2014-2015
In less than 2 weeks, my kids will be heading back to school. It's okay. I'm ready and I think they are too. In this house, we will mark a milestone. The four oldest ones at home will all be in high school. Yes, we will have a Senior, Junior, Sophmore and a Freshman this year. Whew! Also, Briggs will be in 4th grade.
If I have learned anything this last year, it is that it is okay to say "NO!" I have left all the volunteer stuff to all those 20/30 something moms who want to be involved in everything. Let them do it, I say! LOL I've been there, done that! I have been the room helper, the team mom, the taxi driver, etc. My life is chaotic enough and to add more stuff is down right crazy! I want to enjoy this year with the kids! I missed so much last year!
I'm looking forward to this schedule this year. The high schoolers will be out of the house by 7am every morning. They don't return until 3pm. Briggor will be in school a half hour longer because he is now in the primary grades in Elementary school. So, Monday thru Friday, I will have NO KIDS from 8am - 3pm. WOW!!! What to do with all that time? Believe me, I will fill the days with stuff.

Mark bought me this blanket before I got sick. It had become apart of me. I had it with me in the hospital. I take it with me on trips. It is so soft and cuddly. But, most of all, it's Dodger Blue!
