The Boys taking a break....

Jr High Halloween Party
Last night was the Jr High Youth Group Halloween Party at church. Megan and her best friend Katie were hippies and Tasha went as a "Drama Queen"! LOL
They had a great time. They played games, ate lots of food, had contestants. Tasha won for best costume!
I'm glad to see the girls enjoying their pre-teen years! Look at their smiles!

This birthday was a monumental birthday for Briggor! He knew the concept of "turning" four was something! We were counting the days! This was the birthday that he has enjoyed the most out of all of them.
Briggor started his day with everyone in the house wishing him a Happy Birthday! He was so excited that is was his turn! :)
I was able to sneak out of the house to run some errands and I came home with a big bouquet of balloons with a Spongebob Mylar. Along with the balloons came an AstroBoy Happy Meal from McDonalds!! Oh yea!
After the kids came home from school, we all climbed into the Yukon and headed to John's Incredible Pizza (think Chuck E. Cheese on crack!) This place has a go-cart track INSIDE the building. A place for bumper cars! Video Game heaven and Briggor's favorite Skee-Ball! It has an all-you-can-eat pizza, pasta, salad bar (which the teenagers love!).We spent some family time there with Briggor! All Smiles!
Once we were home, we opened presents....Briggor got a Fisher-Price Castle, a Shake N Go race track and his favorite was the Spike the Dinosaur that is remote controlled!!

A few days prior to his birthday-Briggor requested a chocolate cake with white frosting! Mom delivered the goods to him. We wished him a Happy Birthday and he blew out the candles!

Jade's 4th Grade Project
Jade's 4th grade class read the book "Island of the Blue Dolphins" by Scott O'Dell. She had to do a project for ongoing assessment of the book. The above is a salt flour map. The map was to match the descriptions that were written in the book. The book described the island that is shaped like a dolphin. :) The book never shows an actual map of the island so this is all done with a creative imagination. Jade and I have worked on this project for a week. The salt flour mess took a long time to dry. Tonight, Thursday, we painted the project. I think we did a fabulous job - we are hoping for a "A" on the project!

Our family needed a break from the day to day grind of life. Mark surprised me by making time for the family to get away to Disneyland on Thursday and Friday. We didn't tell the kids until Thursday morning around 630am. We woke Briggor up and asked him if he wanted to go to Disneyland. His face just lit up and he ran to tell the others.....they were so excited! I figured this would probably be the last time the whole family was going to visit Disneyland together!
We made reservations at a Marriott not too far away and took the shuttle to the park. We arrived before noon. We spent 4 hours in Tomorrowland!! We ate, rode rides, watched the Jedi Training Academy which Bud and Jade both got picked to do! :) They fought Darth Vader and Darth Maul!
We spent time in ToonTown meeting Mickey, Pluto and Goofy! Andrew took a nap! LOL
We walked through Fantasyland. Briggor rode the big Merry Go Round! The girls rode Big Thunder Mountain twice! We all rode Pirates of the Carribean together!
It was an exhausting day but smiles were on everyones faces! We took the shuttle back to the hotel and we talked about our day. Once the kids were settled, Mark and I snuck out to the hot tub that was just outside our hotel room. It must have been 104 degrees but it felt good on our achy bodies. We didn't find the knob to turn the jets on until we were wrinkled and hot and ready to get out! Go figure! LOL
We woke up Friday morning and the hotel had a breakfast buffet. We ate before we headed to the shuttle to spend part of the day at California Adventure. The weather was beautiful but it was quite hot on Friday compared to Thursday. We ran around the park...riding this and riding that.....what fun we all had!
As I write this, it is Saturday night and we are all still exhausted from the last two days. Hope you enjoy the pictures. :)

SNAG!
Just had to update the progress on my classes for school. I am in the home stretch for my Algebra class. The semester does not end until the middle of December! With that said, I am on the 5th chapter out of 6 for this online class. I hope to finish early!
Now, I picked up that Health class the beginning of this month. I had to attack, pay for it, get my books, start the work and get going on that class. I have completed 3 out of the 5 tasks/assignments so far for the class. Also, there are a few tests involved but I am working on the class.
I hit a snag yesterday for this class. The teacher posted the students who sent in and were approved for proctors. Let me explain proctors - when you take an online course, you have the option of providing the teacher with a proctor that the teacher approves so that the student does not have to go to the campus to take the tests. The students will be given the tests by the proctors and then in turn the proctors send them into the teacher! Nice, huh? Now, I love this because the school is 30 min one way and then the time it would take to take the test, and so on....would probably take up MOST of my day; also, a proctor can fit into my already busy schedule; I just have to coordinate date/time with my proctor. I would also have to schedule a babysitter...do you see where I am going with this.....I know you do!!! LOL
With that all said....The teacher announced on the website all the students whose proctors were approved and contacted. My name was not on the list!!! I wasn't happy! I went through the process and in record time to get this class and start on time! Yesterday afternoon, I shot off an email to my teacher asking him to recheck his emails and please take the time to see if he missed something. I waited all day for a response and there was nothing! I also spoke to my proctor and she said that she sent a response to him already! So I waited.....and waited.....it was coming down to his word against mine really. Hard to compete with that! I spoke to Mark about it last night...talking it out about what to do. Venting my frustration!
This morning I woke up with sort of a plan. Talking to Mark again....he was letting me make the decision. If the teacher didn't approve my proctor, if I had to go to the campus to test, I wasn't sure if my schedule could handle that....was figuring I would have to drop the class...but also I didn't want to do that...it's my last class! I got on the computer early this morning...no email from the teacher. Was starting to finalize my plan of what to do? Came back to the computer around 10am and there was an email waiting for me from the teacher. He said he remembered me sending him the email regarding my proctor....also, for back up....I had my proctor send ANOTHER email to him last night. Last ditch effort!! Well, it paid off....he said he approved her and that all is well!! :) YEA!! Just went on the class website and he revised the class/student list of all approved proctors and my name was on it!!! WHEW!!! Class continues.........

Riley off to the vet!
This morning, Riley went in early to the vet to get spayed. :( Not fun, but had to be done. She is over 6 month old now and is into everything. Typical puppy! Tasha went with me because her dream job is to become a vet! We handed over Riley to the assistant and we left the building. As we were walking out, Briggor looked up at me and had tears in his eyes. He asked me....why isn't Riley coming with us? It broke my heart. I told him it was going to be ok. She had to stay here for the day and we would pick her up later. He just didn't understand.
I called the vet a little bit ago and the surgery was done and Riley was waking up. All went well. I should be able to pick her up after 4pm. :)

A Blessing
For those of you following my education path, you are aware that I am currently taking my Algebra class. I am half way completed at this moment in time. At the beginning of the semester in August, I needed one more class to complete my degree. Everything and I mean everything was closed. I was competing with incoming freshman! I really wanted to take both an Algebra class and I needed one more elective - I was trying to add a Health class. I even tried emailing the teacher to see if he would add me. He kindly wrote me back and said it was full at the time. He also had a mid-semester online course that was full and he said to check back in October to see if anyone dropped so that I may add. I have been constantly checking to see if anyone HAS dropped but it remains closed! :( So, I have continued with my Algebra class until yesterday.
Yesterday, I received an email from the Health Teacher that I emailed back in August. He stated that to this date the class was still full but would open up a spot for me but I had to jump on it immediately because the course starts next week. With a few emails between the teacher and me, the teacher added me to the roster, I called and paid for the class, sent in my proctor form to the teacher, received confirmation from my teacher that he received my proctor information and has sent an email to her, and ordered my book and scan trons.
This is truly a blessing! Just learned the a lesson in perserverance and patience! So, starting next week I will be begin the last class that I need to complete my degree! :) Smiling as I type this.......
