IHS Homecoming 2012

Last night was Independence High School Homecoming 2012!!

Megan, Skylar and Tasha came home with t-shirts that they needed

spruced up!  LOL   The girls asked me "Do you know how to make

this t-shirts cool?"

"Do I know how to make them cool?, Really?" I said.  :)

As you can see.....I made the shirts COOL!

 Here is one of the greatest things about living in the country.  Our town is surrounded by farms. How cool is this to have tractors pulling the homecoming floats?

The Homecoming King and Queen

 Each year at Homecoming, each class (Freshman, Sophmore, Junior and Seniors) decorate a float to a them of the year.  This year each class was given a holiday to portray on their float.

There are judges in the stands deciding who wins.

We had a great night!  The girls were all smiles!  The crowd was happy and cheered on our Falcons!

High school football is the best! We have only lost 1 game this season.

Sitting in the stands is bitter sweet.  So many memories of high school run through my head as I think back to my high school days. Homecoming was the big event.  Being on drill team, we practiced for days and hours to get it "Just" right!   WOW!  Good times!

 We constantly remind our kids that you only get 4 Homecomings in high school and it goes by so fast.

I'm enjoying being the mom and sitting in the stands and watching my

kids experience and make memories like I did as a teenager.

Those are some of my best memories!

Homecoming Dance 2012

Last weekend was the Homecoming Dance for Independence High School.

Megan was so excited to go.

Megan was grounded for grades, really bad grades. But she worked so very hard studying, extra credit and turning in every assignment. (Mark says "C's" or better in each class) So we gave her back her freedom, her cell phone, Mark took her shopping. With her new found freedom this past weekend, she had her best friend over, left for a high school football game, had her friend spend the night last Friday.   Saturday was  shopping at the mall with

 Dad for a dress for the dance, lunch out with her friends, then got her nails done, then a dance at school, spent the night way at her friends!

I don't know if I am supposed to be happy she is off grounded and exploring life again, or miss her because now she is always gone.

Griffith Park Observatory

This past summer we had a chance to visit the Griffith Park Observatory.

It's been a long time since I was there.  If I thought hard enough, it was probably when I was in Elementary School and probably was with Mark - way back when!

I think Ryan loved this day the best.  Ryan LOVES science!

The other kids were happy about going but not as excited as Ryan!
