Okay....I have to admit it...I am an online game junkie. I love the website POGO.com and I have an annual subscription to this site. Besides, my mom is on there also!! LOL :) If you like games and challenges or if you just want to play some games with my mom and I just go check it out! (www.pogo.com) !
Anyways, I filled out this 20 minute questionaire to be a BETA tester for this game site. Me and about a ten thousand other people!! Would you believe today in my email I received my official Beta Test Program screen name and password! Yes, they picked me to be a BETA tester!! I will be "testing" new and upcoming games that are going to be coming out on the website. How cool is that?

Karen Kingsbury
A dear friend of mine introduced me to a wonderful author - Karen Kingsbury. She is a Christian author who writes amazing books. As I write this post, I, along with others, are on an online conference call with Karen Kingsbury herself. It is amazing to here this woman's voice and here her exciting announcement of her new book. She has a personal Facebook page where she interacts with her readers. I have joined "The Baxter Family Club"!

Andrew had a bit of reality when he was down south doing all the stuff needed to complete his paperwork, physical and such. The reality of adulthood and that things sometimes don't come out the way you planned it. HHHhmmm, can we relate? Andrew had a rough couple of days last week. Thursday/Friday were not what he expected. By the end of Friday, Andrew was NOT a happy camper. He did a lot of waiting and waiting and more waiting. Lots of paperwork! One time he was so bored that he fell asleep only to be awoken by a bunch of army guys screaming in his face. He was almost kicked out for that....but the day continued. One of the hardest things Andrew faced was the constant worrying about his job status. Remember, he didn't pass the DLAB test on Thursday so his recruiter pushed through a waiver which was s 50/50 chance of it getting waived. In the meantime, another job opened up that he qualified for but Andrew wanted to see what the waiver would say. Since he waited so long and decided to cancel the waiver, his second job closed! :( Disappointment! His third option was System Analyst in Intelligence. Same field, 3rd choice in job! He locked that in which totally changes his contract. BUMMER! The nice deal of Monterey, California has vanished. After being sworn in on Friday afternoon, given his military ID, he is now a ARMY man!
The current contract is this....System Analyst in Intelligence. He is now leaving on June 15th. No signing bonus! He will do his boot camp in Missouri. After that, he will be home for 2 weeks then off to San Angelo, Texas, Good Fellows Air Force Base where he will start his schooling. Instead of the 5 yr length of service, he will do 3 yrs, 40 weeks in the ARMY!
After everything was said and done and Andrew calmed down from all the pressure, boredom, waiting (no patience here), being poked, asked so many questions, he is happy that it is all done. He now is waiting to graduate so he can start his new adventure that awaits him in June!

ARMY UPDATE
Andrew left the house this morning about 4am to head south to start his process to enter the ARMY! He went down there to take he "DLABS". DLABS stands for Defense Language Aptitude Battery.

If you read a little bit on the website it is a really tough test to take. Andrew informed us by text that he scored a 76! Not good enough to pass! :( We weren't sure what was going to happen now that he didn't pass!
Andrew filled out a waiver to see if he could continue with the process of Linguistics. Don't know the results of that yet.
Andrew's recruiter is down in LA with him and they assigned him a new job of Human Intelligence officer (http://www.goarmy.com/RotcViewJob.do?id=301) which Andrew informed us was still a great job. His spirits are still good. He was on an emotional roller coaster there for awhile but he is being a grown up about it. Mark and Andrew have been texting all day - keeping up on all the happenings around there.
Andrew will be spending the night tonight and take his physical tomorrow and be sworn in tomorrow afternoon.

Happy Birthday
Happy 18th Birthday Andrew!
Yesterday we celebrated a milestone in our household. Our first child has reached the age of 18! What an exhilerating, fascinating, exhausting, challenging trip this has been. We are so proud of Andrew and the man that he is becoming. Today marks the start of a new chapter in Andrew's life. One, Mark and I are looking so forward to standing back and watching.
On his 18th birthday, we experienced some life changing decisions, some bittersweet moments and saw a boy start to be a man. Andrew locked in his job for the Army - Signal Intelligence Officer with Linguistics. He turned in his paperwork on his 18th birthday. On Thursday, tomorrow, he heads to LA for a Linguistics test called a "D-Lab". This test will determine what linguistics area they will train him in. He will then take his physical and be sworn in on Friday. Andrew is scheduled to graduate high school on June 1st and will be sent to boot camp on June 8th. Andrew has signed for 5 years. When he returns from boot camp, he will be stationed in Monterey, California, where he will attend linguistics school.
As I sit and write this, I have mixed emotions. I am sad because I am going to miss him terribly. I am going to miss seeing him walk through the door after school. I am going to miss him hugging me and tell me he loves me. I will just plain ole miss him so much! I am welling up with tears as I write this! My heart is filled with so much emotions! I am so proud of him!! But it is time to let go of the apron strings and let him go! He needs to spread his wings and fly.......
