Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving from the Mendenhall's!

Tasha's 13th Birthday Celebration

Tasha celebrated her 13th Birthday at Rollerama with her friends. We were to share the facility with 3 other parties but it ended up to be just Tasha's party on Saturday. :) Tasha was thrilled...the whole place for her party. They rollerskated, did the limbo, raced with her friends and had a fantastic time. They ate pizza, drank all the soda they wanted, had cake and skated, skated and skated!!

Our 24 hours in Vegas

Tuesday evening we raced across the desert heading to Vegas. We arrived around 9pm. Mark, Andrew, Briggor and I were going there to attend a convention. On Wednesday, Mark and I went to the convention while Andrew and Briggor played at the Excalibur hotel. We stayed at the Luxor....don't recommend staying there! Wasn't the greatest of hotels! :(
We spent less than 24 hours running to and from Vegas......

The best part of the room was the spa bathtub!! It was wonderful!

From My Bible Study....

Paraphrasing........
I want to hear the Lord whisper the first recorded words He spoke (Gen 1:1-3) in the Bible to me every morning when I open my eyes: "Today, My precious child, let there be light!"

And at the end of the day, when He tucks me into my bed, may He delight to say,"There was light!"

Because Matthew 5:14 says that "You are the light of the world." Although the light can never be extinguished, the brightness of the flame entirely depends on how much oil (Holy Spirit) we allow Christ to pour on us. God's entire being unites to produce in you the brightest possible flame!

Favorite Books of the Moment

These are 2 of Briggor's favorite books of the moment. Almost everyday we have to read both of these books. I love Dr. Seuss....I am so glad he likes them too!

Self Conscience

Would you believe that after 30yrs, my bonding on my broken front tooth finally came off. I remember it well....when I was 12, swimming in our pool and coming up to the side. I some how hit my tooth on the side of the pool near the decking and chipped my front tooth. At the time, all they could do was bond it. So that is what my parents had done.

I am very self conscience about my teeth. I think they could be straighter, whiter and more beautiful. I love to smile but my teeth are crooked and turning yellow! UGH...I have that!

I have to go to the dentist now to get my front tooth fixed - I shouldn't complain since the dentist that did it the first time said it would probably only last 10 yrs.....not 30yrs. My parents money was well spent.

I wonder if they can do something better than bonding now? Hhhmmmm.........

Thankful

I am thankful today to be able to pick up my Bible, hold it and read it whenever I feel like it! :)

Happy Veteran's Day

Happy Veteran's Day! Just wanted to thank my family and friends who are serving or have served in the armed forces. You had the courage to say "Yes, I will serve!" and did so proudly and without reserve. You took a vow to protect and serve our country and because of that vow, my family and friends have the right to freedom!

Thank you!

The Art of Death Exhibit

Megan is studying Egypt this semester in her 6th grade class. For extra credit, the teacher told the kids about an exhibit at CSUB here in Bakersfield. If she attended, took pictures and wrote a paragraph about what she saw - extra credit would be given to her.
Last night, Mark, Tasha, Jade, Megan and I went to the exhibit. It was small but very interesting. They had an actual stunning hand-painted sarcophagus dating back to circa 945 - 712 B.C. Other items that we saw were an offering table, child's tunic and a gold painted mummy mask.
The girls couldn't get over that this was all real and that it was thousands of years old.
The black mummy picture above is an actual mummy which they told us after this event they were taking it for a CT Scan to see the inside of it without unwrapping it! Amazing huh?

BOOK

I just wanted to pass on my recommendation of this book - "The Art of Racing in The Rain" by Garth Stein! It is fabulous! I read it in 3 days! :)
The back of the book reads: " A heart-wrenching but deeply funny and ultimately uplifting story of family, love, loyalty and hope - a captivating look at the wonders and absurdities of human life.....as only a dog could tell it."
If you love dogs....this book is for you. It tells the story of a dog's life through the thoughts of a dog. Emotional at times, funny and just wonder to read.

Our Honor Roll Student

Megan received HONOR ROLL for the 1st quarter of school.
Congratulations Megan!

Briggor's First Day of Preschool

Briggor started his first day of preschool today. He was so excited. He couldn't wait to go. His backpak was packed and off we went to The Oaks Children's Center. He is starting out going 2 days a week, Tuesday/Thursday, and attending from 830a - 1245pm. He is pretty comfortable in his surroundings since he attends Sunday school in the same place. That helps a lot! :)

He met his first friend. They were discussing how old they are. They kept holding up their fingers showing their age. I wish I could still show how old I am on one hand?!?!?! LOL

Isn't he the cutest thing?!?!

No crying, no tears....just bye mom....see you later!
