Pinto B Tournament of Champions - METS - 1st place Team

After an exciting, amazing, baseball game played by 7 and 8 year olds...
the Pinto B division METS won the
Tournament of Champions!

It came down to a tie score at the end of the 6th inning.
They had to play til a team won.
The Mets got the Dodgers out in the top of the 7th.
Mets ended up with runners on 2nd and 3rd place with
1 out.   All we needed was a base hit to win.

Ethan hit a base hit right over 2nd base to
bring in the winning run!!

It was amazing!

The classroom spends 1 day a week in
the garden or kitchen.

8th Grade End of Year Essay by Skyler Mendenhall

End of the Year Essay

Towards the end of my sixth grade year at Buena Vista, I was nervous. The whole sixth grade went through the Warren orientation and it was mind blowing how everything worked… I had seven other classes, different teachers, and a whole year of it… The main problem that I was concerned about was if I was going to be able to find my classes. After the first two weeks at Warren, I realized it wasn’t hard at all! It was actually easier than I thought it was and I started to like Jr. High!

I think the most difficult class for both of my years at Warren would be math. The homework assignments would just keep piling one after the other. The classes seemed to move very quickly, but I learned to stay focused, keep on task, and turn the assignments in on time. From then on the class just seemed to get easier.

My favorite class was physical education. Every day the assignments were just games, and every single one of them was fun! My favorite game was Jurassic Park. During the game, you had to collect four balls from three other teammates and when you did you won. But when you played you had to wear a flag which determined if you would start back at your base or not. And that only happened when the flag was pulled. Altogether, it was an amazing class.

My main goal is going to be making honor roll all four quarters in a row. Since we are nearing the end of the year, there is no way that I am not going to make this last quarter. I have pushed myself to the very best of my abilities, and I am very proud of myself as well as my Mom and Dad. I know that high school is going to be a bigger challenge for me, and I am going to have to step up my game a lot.

The most useful skill I obtained during the past two years would be patients, determination, and focusing. In sixth grade I rushed to be finished with everything first and often times found my grade suffering for it. Now that I am older and more mature I have found it easier to slow down and actually think about the right things to put down on that piece of paper. The best part of high school I am looking forward to is playing football! I am very talented in it, and hope to better my skill for it in the future.

Mother's Day Weekend

The Friday before Mother's Day weekend, I drove down south to pick up my mom and
bring her back to our house for the weekend.
We arrived in town to pick up Briggs from the bus stop.
He had saved up Dewar's gift cards and wanted to take Beema out
for ice cream.  So we did.......

The girls enjoyed some time with their Beema.

These two are the few that put ketchup on their tacos!!

My mom took me step by step to make our family's
stuffed cabbage recipe.  YUM!!!  My mom and
I were the only ones that ate it!

On Saturday morning, the girls and I took Beema to
breakfast at Cafe Crepes!  Then we saw Briggor's baseball game!

On Sunday, Mother's Day, we slept in.
Mark and the kids took off early and surprised my mom and I with
Starbucks coffee, donuts, flowers and cards!
This beautiful bouquet was for my mom!
These gorgeous flowers were for me!

This is the card from the kids!

We had a fun and busy weekend!
Great memories were made!

Royal Reader

Briggor had a special day to read a book to the class.  It had to be a short entertaining book which he was able to read in front of the whole class.  He wasn't nervous at all.  He was looking forward to it.   This is a picture of Briggor and the book he chose to read.
