WHOA!!!!

Summer Splash!

Briggor Day Camp

Briggor spent one week at "SEED TO TABLE" day camp
at the Edible Garden across from his school.
He attended everyday M-F, 830-130pm

One day the campers (30) picked approx.
100 lbs. of vegetables and produce.

They planted seeds.  Cultivated the soil.
Learned about new things.

Briggor  had a great time and didn't want
it to end.

The 2012 Seed to Table Camp is designed to introduce children, entering 4th through 6th grades, to the fundamentals of planting, growing and enjoying their own food. Campers will spend the morning in the garden learning to sow the seed, nurture and harvest the reward which will then be taken into the kitchen where they will learn the skills necessary to prepare fresh, simple, healthy meals that will be enjoyed together as a community.

On the last day of camp, Briggor brought home
at painted terra cot pot with 3 plants planted in it-
tomato, pepper and something else he can't remember.

June 8th, Concert/BBQ

On Saturday, June 8th, which turned out to be the first hottest day of
the summer here in Bakersfield, 108 degrees, Mark and I were
hosting a BBQ/Concert in our backyard.
This event has been in the works since January so
there was no way of changing the date and no control over the
weather. :(   So, we adapted......canopies, portable swamp cooler,
lots of cold drinks and shade, shade shade.

The band came prepared.....they brought their own sound board,
lighting equipment and noise!

In the blistering heat, they did their sound check and "warm-up" a
little before everyone showed up.

The stage was set.......
ready for the guests to arrive.

The evening was quite warm....but
people were enjoying themselves.

We even had Bowen's Whiskey show up and pass out
free whiskey shots and drinks.   It went fast!

The backyard looked great!

As sunset began, the concert started.....it was loud,
fun and everyone was having a great time.

Truxton Mile was the opening act.  They are a local band and
they were fantastic.
Look for them on Facebook.

Then it was Highway Downs turn......
They rocked the night.
Everyone was singing, drinking, dancing.....
it was fabulous!

The music was so loud that the neighbors called the cops on us.  LOL
They showed up and Mark went to talk to them.
The cops said they could hear the concert a mile away.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Mark told them a few more songs and we were shutting it down.
The cops said if they had to come back they were going to fine us.
Mark said, "HOW MUCH?"
Cop said "$75 - $300!"
Mark said, "Sign me up for $300 and leave us alone!"
Cop said, "No that's not how it works! If we come back we will
take the equipment!"
Mark said, "How is it going to fit in your cop car?"
Cop said, " we call a van to come get it!"
Mark said, "well, by the time the van gets here the concert will
be long over!"  LOL

Cop just walked away shaking his head.

So the band continued to play for another 20 minutes and that was that!

Another successful bbq/concert at the Mendenhall Resort!

My 45th Birthday has come and gone......

On June 6th, I celebrated my 45th birthday!
WOW!  45!
I just don't feel it.....
I guess that is a good thing.

I feel like there is still so much more to see. So much more to
experience.  So much more growing to do.
I can't wait to see what the next 45 years
has in store for me.

My day was filled with delivery after delivery from
my wonderful husband.
Flowers, chocolates, cupcakes!
It made me feel very special all day long!

We ended the day with a fantastic dinner at Tahoe Joe's
with family and friends.  We drank, ate, laughed
and talked for hours..

My goofy husband and me!

Best Friends!

Megan and her best friend, Skylar, aka Bonus Daughter, on
the last day of their Freshman Year
at Independence High School!

Starting the summer at the beach......

We started off the summer with a trip to the Central Coast......
This is how the kids like to sleep - all over the place!

I caught this rare moment of Bud and Megan
sleeping......it's a love/hate relationship.

Mark and I snuck away to have lunch with friends at the Moonstone
Beach bar and grill.  It was great weather, great friends and great food.

Mark, the kids and I did some chores around the house.  Over the
winter, it gets a little neglected.

Then the kids wanted to go down to the beach.
We went to Cayucos and it was a bit windy.
We ended up sitting with our backs against the wall.
Literally!

Briggor found a way to entertain himself....
he found some burnt wood and instantly
became on artist on the wall.

This is our beach beauty!

Jade, Megan, Skyler's friend, Christian, Skyler and Tasha
They are growing up so fast!

Bud and his beach body!! :)

Hanging with dad after a day at the beach!

Love when my toes are in the sand!
